Singing For Fun

This group is led by ex opera singer Rachel Cook, however, opera doesn’t really feature in our lively group which sings a mixed bag of music and tries to include ‘something for everyone’. The repertoire varies from folksongs, spirituals, chants to some jazz as well as seasonal music - e.g. Christmas, Easter and Harvest.

We usually meet on alternate Mondays from 10.30 am to 12 noon, mainly at the United Reform Church Hall, Blandford but by way of a change and because people like it, we go to the Village Hall at Durweston during the summer term.

Numbers have increased to 20 with a regular attendance of 15 or 16. More members are always welcome - especially men!

For further information ring Rachel  on 01258 452641 or Dorice McNally on 01258 452258.

November 2010 Update: Singing for Fun is still going strong and we have had one or two new members this term. We are not having a Christmas Concert this year in aid of Help for Heroes but hope to put one on next year. We will be singing carols once again on 20th December at White Cliff Care Home followed by our Christmas Lunch at the White Horse in Stourpaine.
A special event on the horizon is the possibility of joining up with the U3A Christchurch 'Singing for Fun' group and perhaps arranging an outing out there.
