A Crossword shared is a Crossword solved

Would anyone be interested in helping to form a Crossword (cryptic) Group?  I miss not having a partner to join heads with over the day’s puzzle and wondered if anyone else is in  a similar situation and would like to do something about it. If so, do get in touch with Thelma Wood on 860191 or thelma.woodátiscali.co.uk.
Barry Curtis - member of Sturminster U3A writes:  I am a retired professional musician, having spent a life time playing jazz, pop and dance music and I play piano and electric keyboards. At the moment I run an amateur choir based in Child Okeford called the Okeford Minstrels where I play the piano and direct. I would love to play with a small group of other musicians, ideally a bass player, guitarist and drummer for fun and occasional performances. I'm not aware of anyone in Sturminster U3A that plays, but there may be one or two in Blandford. My phone number is 01258 475427 if anyone would like to speak to me about it..

The Mackrell Charity, based in Sturminster Marshall has started a Language Group. We meet at the Old School, Sturminster Marshall (next to the Red Lion
Pub) at 7.30pm on the third Wednesday of each month. The next meetings are 17th November and 15th December. So far we have a French table and a German table but only 1 Spanish speaker and 1 Italian speaker. We would welcome speakers of any language but especially Spanish and Italian. Participants vary in fluency from beginners to native speakers. The idea is to help each other in a friendly and non threatening atmosphere over a cup of tea or coffee. If you have any members who would like to join us please could you ask them to contact Sally on 01258 857528 or by email at
