Art Appreciation

March 2011: This year we have been working our way through British art history and are now getting around to discussing contemporary British art. We are planning to visit the Constable exhibition at Salisbury Museum in June. From March, we will be meeting in the Parish Centre (as opposed to members’ homes) which will give us more room to welcome new members. There will be an opportunity to find out more about what we do at the Open Day.

November 2010: The group continues to meet on the second Friday of each month, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., at various accommodating members’ houses. Over the last 18 months we have looked at art from nearly every period from the Renaissance to the 20th century . Michelangelo through to the Surrealists have been tackled.

Having reviewed the history of American art during the summer, we are now working our way chronologically through British art. The group is generally well attended and with the maximum numbers that can reasonably be accommodated in member’s homes. I would like to express, on behalf of all of the group, our thanks to those members who host the meetings.
