The group has been running since 2010, ably led by Tony Parker. His depth of knowledge and great enthusiasm has enabled us all to feel more confident in finding our way round the night sky. Unfortunately, Tony is no longer able to lead us due to increased personal commitments and sadly the group is closing for now as we have been unable to find a new leader to take his place. Any offers welcome!
In the meantime,we hope for many clear night skies this winter so that we can use our newly acquired knowledge.
Other U3A members may be interested to know that the annual book that has proved most useful in guiding us is:- Stargazing: a month-by-month guide to the Northern night sky by Heather Couper & Nigel Henbest. Published by Philips. £6.99 or cheaper on Amazon. The 2012 one is already out.
