A Word From Our Chairman

This year is the start of the 7th year of being a part of the University of the Third Age, also known asherring 004 the Third Age Trust we might reflect on what we do in our community and the effect we have on the local population. Many members and ex members have benefited from the enthusiasm of our Group Leaders and their assistants in continuing to reveal their experiences and knowledge of their chosen subjects. This means that some time must be given up for preparation prior to the next meeting. Please help to reduce the burden by helping out, no matter.

Our organisation is able to access the archives and materials available from our Bromley HQ for the cost of returning that material to them by post. I know that this is not the perfect answer as some of the material has been dated but, thanks to the fire at HQ some of that material has been replaced with more up to date material. If you find you need something extra then we will see what we can do to help you obtain it from our funds.

We have a quarterly Newsletter which is circulated to all members either by e-mail or post. We look forward to receiving articles by your group, be it a joint effort or singly it matters not. So save it on a disc and send it to the Hon Secretary, Thelma Wood.

Our Quarterly Open Days are not as well attended as I would like so come along with a friend and listen to our invited guest speaker. Perhaps you have a hidden talent for advertising your own experiences, which we would like to hear about.

Our computer group has will be dividing into two parts soon and we have been allotted two class rooms for this purpose. Similarly our language groups and walking groups are spawning more groups. See what can happen to your own group.

This year Jean Reynolds will be visiting some groups, by arrangement of course, to see how you are getting and to bring back to the committee ideas for their improvement.

Good luck to you all in your endeavours in 2008.

Don Herring
